Be Noticed, Be Unique: Ideas for Sign Buyers and Designers

When you hang a sign over your business storefront, that sign should attract customers and it should reflect your brand. Essentially, it should be both unique and noticeable. Hi, my name is Kerry, and I love colours, designs and almost everything else related to signs. Although I have dabbled in the art of graphic design, I am not an expert, but I have ran my own business for three decades, and during that time, I have learned to be interesting. Two tips for business owners who are in need of signage

Eevi Jarvela

If you're a business owner and are in need of signage for your enterprise, you may find the following advice to be quite useful.

Seek out the help of a company that specialises in signage solutions

If you need new signage for your business premises, you should not try to come up with the design for the signs yourself. Instead, you should instead find a company that specialises in offering signage solutions and ask them to help you to create the perfect signage for your enterprise.

The reason for this is as follows; unless you are knowledgeable about signage, you may struggle to come up with a design that is the perfect choice for your business premises.

You may, for example, end up choosing a sign size that is too small for your premises (which may then result in it going unnoticed by your customers) or you may choose a design, colour or style of lettering that doesn't suit your brand. This inconsistent branding could confuse prospective customers and make them less likely to buy something from your enterprise.

If you do this, you may then have to dispose of this signage and spend more of your time and money getting new signs made.

Conversely, if you consult with a signage expert, the likelihood of your signs being the ideal size, shape and style for your premises will be a lot higher, as a company that specialises in making signs for businesses like yours will be better placed to make the right design choices.

Test out different types of signs

If you're torn between two different styles of signage and are struggling to decide which one will be most suitable for your business, then you should order one of each style and test them out.

By placing each sign up on your premises for a few days or weeks, and assessing the response that this signage elicits from your existing and prospective customers, you can then determine if that particular sign will help you to achieve your business-related goals (such as, for example, drawing people's attention to some discounted items you have for sale, or making them aware of your enterprise's new branch or its new opening hours).

Whilst this may result in you spending more on your new signage, it could ultimately help you to generate higher profits in the long run if it encourages more people to visit your premises and buy your products or services.
