Be Noticed, Be Unique: Ideas for Sign Buyers and Designers

When you hang a sign over your business storefront, that sign should attract customers and it should reflect your brand. Essentially, it should be both unique and noticeable. Hi, my name is Kerry, and I love colours, designs and almost everything else related to signs. Although I have dabbled in the art of graphic design, I am not an expert, but I have ran my own business for three decades, and during that time, I have learned to be interesting. If you want tips on choosing or designing the perfect sign for your business, you have come to the right place. Please, check out my blog for tips and ideas.

How To Make Any New Event Shine By Using Signs Creatively

Eevi Jarvela

Now that the pandemic is in the rearview mirror, events are taking place once again around the country. You may be keen to get your event masterpiece underway as soon as possible and make sure that it is an occasion to remember across all fronts. As you know, event planning can be a multifaceted operation, but one area you need to pay particular attention to is signage. If you haven't thought a lot about this so far, what tips can help you get underway?

Clean Sheet

Many events take place at unusual venues that may never have held occasions like this before. Large social events are a point in question where the client may have chosen a particularly scenic location that has no infrastructure at all.

Starting with the Basics

You will need to start from scratch and focus on the basics first in this situation. While you will probably get to know the venue intimately as you prepare, your guests may never have been there before, and you'll want to avoid confusion at all costs.

You will need a welcome sign at the entrance that represents the first point of contact. Depending on the scale of the event, you may then need further signage posts pointing to toilets, registration packets or ticket pickup, and food and drink vendors. You may want to set aside a separate area for electronic charging (very important these days), and this will need a prominent sign of its own.

Branding

Remember, each sign that you create is an important touchpoint, and this is your chance to make both your event and the brand shine. Work with the client on the design elements, but remember that some of the signs could make a very big impact.

Barrier Signage

If you need to control crowds at certain points (queueing for food or drink, for example), you may use barriers. This is another opportunity for branding, and you should consider creating barrier covers. They not only make those "ugly" barriers disappear, but they represent good advertising space.

Banners

Banners are a workhorse of the event industry. They come in all shapes, sizes and materials, and you're sure to find something that fits your budget. Use them creatively to pinpoint certain key event areas.

Social Media Zone

Why not set up a social media photo zone? These are very popular today, and you should encourage attendees to snap and post. Of course, focus carefully on the signage to take care of the branding — and include an event-related hashtag. This will spread the word even further for you.

Ordering Your Signage

These are just a few of the ideas you can now consider as events get back underway. Talk with your signage supplier for more gems.
