Tips for Ordering Custom Engraving on Granite Signs

Eevi Jarvela

If your business has used granite signs in the past, you may have used a traditional sign engraving option. This means the standard options such as lettering and simple designs are available. The truth is, this does attract business but you can increase the power of that attraction with custom engraving. Here are some tips to help you with that first order and what you need to know about the process.

Simple Designs

If you plan on having a design or logo placed on the stone, you should consider keeping the design simple. Depending on the size of your granite, intricate designs with a large amount of detail may become unclear. This means that your logo may not be as visible to potential customers and you may not have the impact you are looking for. If your logo is detailed, pick an aspect of the design that can be engraved on the stone. This will still give you a portion of your logo while keeping the final design from being unclear or hard to decipher.

Wording Choices

If the granite sign is used to attract people driving by, then you need to consider the wording. Keep in mind that people driving are not going to have the time to read long slogans. You want to keep the name of your business and any extra writing simple and to the point. If you want custom design wording, consider having the scrollwork or script font be the focal point for attracting potential customers. The script font can be eye-catching while the words can be clear and concise telling the customer the name of your business and what you do.

Colour Choices

You may be surprised to find that your engraving colours are not limited to black. You can choose to have other colours used to help make your sign stand out. Depending on the sign engraver, you can have coloured pictures engraved on the stone or have the wording shown as a specific colour. If you aren't sure what colours may work well for your environment, consider asking your engraver during a custom engraving consultation.

If you are ready to order custom engraving on your granite sign, contact your local sign engraver. They can help you with your order and with any questions you have. They can also help you make adjustments to your order if necessary for the type of granite stone you are using.
